Commercial pigeons roosting on a warehouse building exterior
warning

Pigeons carry 60+ transmittable diseases, generate acidic droppings that corrode metal and concrete, and create slip hazards and OSHA issues at every commercial property they roost on.

Commercial Pigeon Control & Removal

Pigeons are the single most destructive pest bird for commercial properties. They roost in flocks of 20–200+, return to the same nesting sites year after year, and generate enough acidic dropping volume to damage roofing membranes, corrode HVAC equipment, and contaminate inventory at warehouses, retail centers, and food facilities. Rid-A-Bird has been providing commercial pigeon control across the western United States for 35+ years, with permanent exclusion systems engineered for industrial-scale pressure — not the spray-and-pray pest service that comes back every quarter.

What Commercial Pigeon Pressure Costs You

A single pigeon produces about 25 pounds of droppings per year. Multiply that across a roosting flock and you're looking at quarter-ton annual loads on rooftops, ledges, and warehouse rafters — droppings that are acidic enough to eat through galvanized metal, foul solar arrays, and trigger histoplasmosis and salmonella exposure concerns for OSHA, FDA, and USDA inspectors. The real cost isn't the cleanup invoice — it's roofing replacement years earlier than scheduled, contaminated product writedowns, and the slow erosion of customer trust at retail and hospitality properties where droppings make sidewalks unsafe.

Where Pigeons Roost on Commercial Buildings

Commercial pigeon roosts cluster around specific architecture: rooftop HVAC equipment, parapet ledges and beam undersides, warehouse rafters and high-bay light fixtures, loading dock canopies, signage and sign letters, solar panel undersides, building setbacks and recessed entry alcoves, and louvered vents and damaged screening. Every site is different — our assessment identifies all active roost points before we propose an exclusion plan, so the pigeons don't simply relocate 30 feet over.

Our Commercial Pigeon Control Methods

We don't push a single product. After assessing your specific roosting pressure, building architecture, and operational constraints, we recommend the combination of exclusion and deterrent methods that delivers the longest-term result.

Heavy-Duty Pigeon Netting

The gold standard for high-pressure pigeon roosting under loading docks, atriums, and warehouse interiors. Zippered access panels for lights and equipment.

grass

Stainless Steel Spikes

For ledges, parapets, signage, and beam tops where pigeons land. Commercial-grade and weather-resistant.

bolt

Electric Shock Track

Low-voltage architectural-grade track for high-visibility ledges. Humane and effective for long-term pigeon deterrence.

Solar Panel Screening

Pigeons love nesting under rooftop solar. We seal the perimeter with stainless mesh while preserving panel airflow.

Vent & Opening Screening

Roof vents, soffit gaps, dryer outlets, and louvers — sealed against pigeon nesting and re-entry.

Dropping Remediation

OSHA-compliant pressure washing, disinfection, and disposal of pigeon droppings and nesting material before exclusion install.

Pigeon pressure shows up differently at each commercial property type — and the right exclusion approach changes accordingly. Common projects:

Commercial Pigeon Control FAQ

How quickly can you respond to an active pigeon problem?
Most commercial assessments are scheduled within 3–5 business days. For urgent compliance issues (food facility inspection findings, healthcare exposure concerns), we'll prioritize the visit and provide written documentation of our remediation plan within 24 hours.
Will the pigeons just move to a neighboring building?
Sometimes — which is why our assessment maps all roosting and feeding sites in the vicinity. A good commercial pigeon plan accounts for the full population behavior, not just the symptom you're calling about. We'll tell you upfront if neighboring buildings need to be addressed for your exclusion to hold.
What's the difference between netting, spikes, and shock track?
Netting fully excludes pigeons from a 3-dimensional space (under canopies, in warehouses). Spikes prevent landing on 2-dimensional surfaces (ledges, parapets). Shock track is for ledges where spikes are too visible or architecturally inappropriate. We often combine all three on a single project.
Do you also remove existing droppings and nesting material?
Yes — and we typically require it before exclusion install. Droppings carry pathogens (histoplasmosis, cryptococcosis, salmonella) and must be removed under proper PPE and disposal protocols. We're equipped for this and bid it into the project scope.
How long does the exclusion last?
Our netting installations carry a lifetime warranty against bird intrusion. Spikes and shock track typically last 10+ years under normal commercial conditions. The exclusion lasts as long as the materials — pigeons don't "learn around" properly installed exclusion.
Do you provide certificates of insurance for vendor onboarding?
Yes. General liability and workers' comp COIs naming your property or management company as additional insured are routine — we handle this as part of project intake at no charge.
